CBD FAQs
Below you can find most common questions and answers about CBD.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (commonly known as CBD) is one of many active naturally occurring, non-intoxicating, chemical compounds found in hemp plants. Unlike marijuana, which contains between 15-40% THC concentration responsible for psychoactive effects, hemp only contains a very low, non-detectable level (or what labs would suggest being a small trace) of THC of 0.3% or less. CBD is not is not psychoactive and will not produce euphoric feelings.
Is CBD Legal?
CBD derived from an industrial hemp is legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. CBD is federally legal as long as it doesn't contain more than 0.3% THC. CBD does not cause a “high” effect and as a result is legal is all 50 states. Brands offered on CBDlitica.com are from the most popular brands on the market where each product goes through third party lab testing.
What is the difference between CBD oils and CBD tinctures?
The main difference between CBD oils and tinctures is the formula of ingredients. CBD oils are diluted with a carrier oil such as hemp seed oil, MCT oil, and coconut oil, to make it easy to consume. CBD tinctures contain CBD in an alcohol base.
What is the difference between CBD isolate, full spectrum, and broad spectrum?
These terms are used to define which type of CBD is used in a product:
CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD, which is produced by removing all other compounds found in the plant including terpenes, flavonoids, plant parts, and other cannabinoids. This form is both tasteless and odorless, making it perfect for people sensitive to the natural smell of a hemp plant or who want to use it in recipes. The only drawback to CBD isolates is that they don’t create the entourage effect like the full spectrum does.
Full spectrum CBD is an extract that contains all compounds found naturally occurring in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids. The advantage of this form is the entourage effect which is known to help maximize therapeutic effects of CBD. It occurs when all these natural non-intoxicating compounds within the hemp plant interact with our bodies.
Broad spectrum CBD is a bit of a mix between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate. Like Full Spectrum CBD, the other compounds found within the plant are preserved in the extract; however, any trace of THC is completely removed. While this form has zero THC, it tends to have a stronger natural plant taste and aroma that some people may find unpleasant.
Can I add CBD oil to my regular, non-CBD, vape juice?
While CBD vape additives can be added to the vape juice of your choice, the CBD oil should NOT be vaped unless specifically designed for vaping.
Which CBD strength is right now me?
If you are new to CBD, it is best to start with a lower dose of CBD and increase it gradually based on your personal preference and type of use.
